When you’re part of a company that innovates and delivers over hundreds of collections a year, you’re always looking ahead. The dawn of a new year, however, brings us a whole new level of big-picture thinking and unbridled inspiration.  We’re ready to see our personal mood-boards come to fruition, put our 2018 goals into play, and celebrate the contributions to come from the home design industry as a whole.

To kick off our new blog series, we checked in with some employees from our New York office to talk 2018….

"When you move away from neutrals, it pushes you to get a bit more adventurous with your décor."

ALAN | COO

- What home trend for 2018 are you excited about?

I’m looking forward to bold trends in paint colors, especially rich green-blue hues and purples.  When you move away from neutrals, it pushes you to get a bit more adventurous with your décor.

- You always come up with great gifts – what will be your go-to in 2018?

A great bottle of wine housed in our cork wine rack!

"I am dreaming of summer. I’ll be using our food dome for beachside entertaining."

HECTOR | Creative

- What do you expect the consumer to love most in 2018?

Definitely the movement towards affordable design.  We have seen the shift happen already, but it will be even stronger in 2018.  People are seeing more and more that you can design a home on a budget without compromising style.  There are so many benefits, but one is that you can update your space more often when you make reasonable choices when it comes to cost.

- What product from one of our 2018 collections stands out to you?

I have a long list of favorites, but right now, in the midst of winter weather, I am dreaming of summer. I’ll be using our food dome for beachside entertaining.

"I am always in favor of blending function and design."

WINSENT| Product Development

- What are you looking forward to from a design perspective?

I’m very excited to see how new materials and unexpected color combinations will shake up the design industry for 2018.

- What new product of ours aligns with one of your personal New Year's resolutions?

I am always in favor of blending function and design.  For the upcoming year, I want to bring more of that into my home as I prepare to do some upgrades. So, our wood rolling storage cart is a must.  I am drawn to the print because I’m a New Yorker and I love Brooklyn. The execution of the image on the wood is seamless and the color of the light and dark burnt wood work well together. I plan on using this to store and easily transport (thanks to the wheels) my heavy-duty tools during construction and then use it for chic everyday storage.

"The smart toy storage trend continues and will have a key role in home trends for 2018."

KATIE | Sourcing

- What home trends are you seeing for families with children?

As a mom of 2 young boys, I am constantly looking for ways to better organize their space. Thankfully, the smart toy storage trend continues and will have a key role in home trends for 2018. Parents are always aiming to create a kid-friendly home that still maintains their personal style.

- What’s topping your list of must-haves?

I am totally obsessed with our construction site set. I know it will make clean up time a lot easier! The large size is perfect for train sets, while the medium and small sizes are great for cars and Legos. It is important for me that my children learn about responsibility and take care of their own belongings. I have learned that both my 15-month old and my 5-year old are happy to put their toys back at the end of each day if there is an easy and fun system in place.  They are all about construction zones and vehicles, so I know they will LOVE this collection!

We look forward to sharing more insider scoop, design tips and hacks, tutorials, interviews with key design players and more in our blogs this year. Here’s to a fantastic 2018!
